catastrophy: sparkly pink d20 necklace (yes!)
(meaning,Wiki has offically eaten my soul)
What's a koteka, and who wears them? Thanks for asking!
Men from the Dani, or Lani, and Yali tribes in West Papua. It's the only article of clothing worn by men throughout their whole lives, as old men, young boys, and even the mummy keepers (They smoke their own mummies so they can use the mummy's " powers"!! ...to fleece tourists! How cool is that?!!)
That's right, men of everyone age and shape, and their toteka is as unqiue as they are---3 ft long, skinny and stright, short and curly, short and robust, ovaloid, or carrot-shapped, with bead decoration or dangly ties, but always "at the ready," baby.

This rambling brought to you by Prof. MacAyeal's bashful attempt to explain the development of sexual reproduction and concealed estrus and the letter P.
Also brought to my attention by PHSC related reading is the mind-destroying !Xóõ language, one of the Khosian languages
It starts out simple enough...

There are 5 vowel qualities. [a e i o u]
and then it fucks your mind so hard your brain dribbles out the other ear )

In other (more sane) news, the trip to WL went by quickly, and was jam-packed full of errands and tiny accomplishments.
However, due to the complete moronity of the Indiana DMV, I couldn't renew my license.
IN's BMV bureacracy should be ashamed of itself )

My Mom also fussed over me about my bday, and she (and Anna, I guess) got me a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook... which I know better as the checkered cookbook that Mom keeps by the stove with all the recipes for cookies and rolls and the best food ever. Mom also made up a sewing kit for me, complete with a flower-patterned measuring tape, replacement machine needles, universal bobbins, white and blue chalk, my own pin chusion and seem ripper, and its own little toolkit with compartments on the top for easy access to things like pins or thread. She also made Beef and Noodles and strawberries with Coolwhip and cake.
Mom, you rock.
