Things I've Learned Working in an Office
Oct. 5th, 2007 07:16 amPhonecalls to strangers are not your enemy. Nobody remembers you.
Phonecalls from strangers are your enemy. They want you to do things for them.
Databases are your friend, they help you find information.
But when databases fail, and they often do, it's back to google-stalking.
Paperclips, 3-hole punches, white-out tape, and all those other tiny office supplies are actually very useful.
Audits are not fun. Especially not fun for the people who have to drag out the paperwork for said audit.
Stamping the date on mail and sorting it into wall cubbys is fun, and unexpectedly therapeutic.
Cubicles are not as evil and stifling as I previously thought.
That said,
I've also learned that I kinda don't want to be working in an office.
Oh, and people really do get excited about Friday, complain about Monday, and get hopeful on Wednesday.
I'm only coincidentally happy it's Friday, because UCJAS BADASS meets on Fridays.
