Feb. 21st, 2007 01:20 pmI've been thinking more about reality-centering, particularly as UChi-Con and my BA continue to rudely disrupt my life-priorities.
So I put on my headphones and walked over to return Sushu's Hollywood videos, then to RC to buy a "Where Fun Comes To Die" shirt, then to Cobb for reading (and later dried mango goodness).
And I thought about it.
And it comes down to this:
U of C is not the real world. (It's about as much the real world as The Real World was the real world.)
What I write for my BA is small change in the academic world. If you want to make any kind of ripples whatsoever in academia, you need to hang around in your white tower for many years (a.k.a. grad school) before anyone will give a shit what you have to say. And even then, in the grand scheme of things, academics are somewhat of a novelty. (Most of the time they just sit around and ponder. Granted, they ponder really interesting and complicated conundrums).
Did I mention that I had a dream last night where I had a baby? That was weird. (Especially because he was way too big for a newborn. And I named him Sean, like my nephew. And he was born on the same day as my sister's new baby... which aside from being physically impossible, is just uncanny.)
Fire alarm. LAter
