i can has bailout?
Jan. 13th, 2009 11:12 amSeriously. Once again I find myself on the hunt for a job...and I've lost none of my distaste for it.
As if that weren't bad enough, I'm also worried about my student loans. I've been keeping up fine with two of them, but now I have a third problem loan that I need to make payments on. Except that the UofC Student Loan office can't seem to get their shit together. I've been trying since October to get them to send me the correct billing, and finally FINALLY the first week of January they send me a normal bill. So I wince, write them a check and send it off. Then I get a Final Notice dated the DAY BEFORE the monthly payment was due. A notice which threatens credit bureau notices and collection agencies and all manner of FINANCIAL DOOM. A notice which should never have been generated. So I call the loan office, and confirm that they got my latest payment and that they won't be siccing collection agencies on me. But still! I've been trying for months to fix my statements, and on account of THEIR continual fuckups with said statements, they report a DEFUALT to my credit bureau?!
I'm so mad! Even talking to the manager person, she says that she has to look at my account history to figure out what's happened. Says that anytime a loan is even one day late, a report is generated for the credit bureau. To which I said, "look I called for the first time on thus and such date... and EVERY TIME thereafter my bill was still wrong, your office told me 'oh, so sorry! we'll generate a new, correct statement for you.' I've been trying for more than 90 days to get you to get this right---so the notice you sent me for failing to pay for 60 days is not only WRONG but also YOUR FAULT." She seemed a bit more helpful after that, but said she still had to talk with the rep I spoke to previously and to review my account and would call me tomorrow.
She'd better call me. I'm about ready to call up the federal student loans ombudsman.
So just slather that financial stress over my difficulties with finding decent employment and you'll have a good indicator of how wound up I'm feeling.
Please excuse me while I build a miniature version of Tokyo and then destroy it in my rage.
PS: Christmas was nice. Some pics of Davis and Emerson Christmases up on my facebook.
