catastrophy: (oroooooo)
I seem to have reined in my student loan problems. Thank god!
The erroneous default reported to my credit will be removed within 30 days. The UofC Student Loan Office manager has assured me they've fixed all the fuck-ups they made with my account. (It only took them 4 months of angry phone calls and the potential destruction of my credit...)

I had a minor freakout yesterday about another loan being past due, but I called them up and it turns out that their automated system is up to date (I had called it to check they got my last payment earlier this week) and that their paper accounting doesn't get done until the middle of the month. Proposition: If your automated system is faster and more likely to be current, why do you send notices based on your less reliable paper system?

In an effort to be proactive, I'm lining up some on-line payment for my third loan, will pay my second loan using the free automated phone system, and I'll be checking up on the UofC people (and my next statement) next month.

I'm trying to be more optimistic about my job search. I'm casting a wider net, considering some stuff over the hill if it's available--especially if I can get it through my temp agency, cus that's one less step for me to do. I'm going to try to do something different everyday, be it job board browsing, applying for something, or reading some of the 'jobs for anth majors' book I scrounged out of my boxes from home.

It'll get better. It will. If I say it enough times, it comes true... right?
