Yay, Day of Random Pointless Trips!
Dec. 28th, 2004 06:41 pmSo... my mom dragged us out of bed at 9 this morning (8 Chicago)
and we went to visit some places like 20 minutes or so from Clearwater
*a Bird Sanctuary (Smelled like lots of bird crap and fish) but as I like animals and zoos and all that kind of stuff, I actually kinda enjoyed it
*This Boardwalk with a ton of crappy touristy stores
*The Friendly Fisherman Seafood Restaurant (fried scallops and grouper was good---btw, apparently there's been a ban on commercial grouper fishing for the past two months...so that means the Grouper Nuggets had been hanging out in the freezer for 2+ months? *shrugs* They tasted good ^_^ The fried oysters....had this gooey consistency and tasted like fish smell and left an aftertaste like sea air--the smelly kind by the docks, not the fresh, salty by the ocean kind)
*The South Florida Musuem
Never knew that a musuem could smush so much ramdom stuff together... shell collections... victorian age household appliances... paleolithic skeletons..the obligatory dusty prehistoric man and his environvment complete with extensive local artist-crafted mural as a backdrop...
But, they do have Snooty, the first manatee ever born in capitivity! <3
*shameless I <3 animals moment*
*A collection of old, old, old.... maps, done in watercolors on faded paper, from like 1472 and 1752.. etc. back when they used rivers and coastlines as specifics and just kinda winged the rest of the continent (Jeremy, they were pretty cool, you should have seen them!)
*Shh! Don't Tell Mom: XXX Megastore
(JK. Actually we just passed by that on the way to the Musuem... some tiny strip--hee hee, strip--mall where the other two stores must have closed so the XXX store just took over the whole storefront ^.^)
*A city called.... Treasure Island!
Whee! That's all for today.
Oh, and for the record, my mom has officially started collecting salt & pepper shakers... dude, this Grandma stuf really catches up quickly, don't it?
